HOW GOOD IS WIFI

Internet has easily changed the very shape of the world as we know it. The super fast broadband speed as offered by the companies today has just opened up new doors and none may guess as to which way we are heading to. The future none the less definitely seems glorious. Then there is WiFi which allows one to get access to the internet even when on the move.

There are WiFi spots where one may get the WiFi signal. There is also no need to pay for it unlike is the case with broadband connection. The WiFi fever is definitely catching up big time when one looks at a number of different public places like coffee shops, pubs and restaurants scattered all across the United Kingdom.

Right from Costa Coffee, McDonald's, J D Wetherspoon to even Pret A Manger among a string of other such popular names are already offering free Wi-Fi to customers. Then there are those chains like the much popular Starbucks that courtesy BT Openzone offers a limited access to wireless internet. This is where all one needs is a smart device that has the feature of allowing access to wifi and people may easily enjoy the comforts as offered by the wireless wifi internet network. But then these are the exclusive places only where WiFi is available. People are hoping to get access to WiFi connectivity wherever they roam. This is where O2 comes up with glittering hope when it says it will be offering a free Wi-Fi network which would again be on a scale that is rather nationwide. Good news is that this service would be in the taking for one and all.

Belonging to a specific mobile provider or for that matter the type of device as one uses won’t matter. The costs will be absorbed by the venues while at the same time adverts would be sent to one’s mobile phones. There are some issues here as well though. Under aged children will be readily exposed to adult and pornographic content. They may have access to via the WiFi network.

None the less competition has heated up big time here as well. This is even as Sky purchased Cloud that is one of the biggest providers of Wifi network. It had as many as 5,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots that are scattered all over the United Kingdom. Then again when one does a comparison pitting Wi-Fi versus 3G, as of now it is WiFi that comes out as the clear winner. It is faster, cheaper and offers better connectivity then 3G.
