SKY LOOKS AT GETTING THE UPPER HAND VIA CLOUD

Cloud has been a leading wifi network provider that has as many as twenty two thousand plus wifi hotspots scattered all across the United Kingdom. The service is again in the offing for free even as people enjoy access to wireless internet at a number of restaurants, cafeterias, libraries, shops etc. when compared with 3G again wifi is said to be much better even as it offers better internet connectivity among other things.

Now it is Sky that has gone on to purchase Cloud and is looking at catering to people’s broadband needs even while on the run. Here Sky is looking at giving its competitors a run for their money courtesy Cloud. The leading names that stand clashing with Sky are BT, Virgin and Talk-Talk among others.

It was unsurprisingly The Sunday Times that broke this news of the Sky takeover of Cloud. This is considering the fact that the newspaper is one of the many enterprises owned by Rupert Murdoch who has powerful stakes in Sky.

The final news of complete acquisition will be given out by the broadcaster in the coming week. Once the deal is final, it will have Sky offering its 2.8 million fixed-line broadband customers with internet access when they are not at home. The Cloud as of now has its deal with a number of public spots namely Pret a Manger, McDonalds and Marriott hotels.

It began way back in 2003 and has seen a reputation grow among people who enjoyed free access to the internet whenever they were at these public places. All one needed was a smart mobile device or laptop for that matter with wifi connectivity option available. A spokesperson on behalf of Sky did not make any comments or affirming the fact that the deal is final. But in all probability the deal is on.

BT Fon : Wireless routers enable to share a small part of their broadband Internet service with the FON Community.
